In worship we seek to
REACH people for Christ,
TEACH them to mature as disciples, and inspire them to
SERVE others for the glory of God.
One of the greatest blessings God has brought to Matthews UMC is the variety of worship opportunities. Whether you prefer a service rich in tradition, or a more contemporary experience, a preference to worship in Spanish, or you seek a service that is focused primarily on children, there is a worship service that we're sure will be a match for you.
8:20 am Sunday
Classic Worship
A celebration through our liturgical heritage

The Sunday 8:20 am service provides a formal early morning traditional worship service with a classic feel. Held in the Sanctuary, this service includes time-honored hymns led by the organ and our Sanctuary Choir. Liturgical readings allow those in worship to hear God's Word spoken by individuals from the body of Christ. Opportunities for reverent meditation are included throughout the service. The Pastor's message reflects God's messages from scripture, and relates Biblical stories and lessons to today's times.
9:40 am Sunday
Contemporary Worship
A celebration through familiar praise
The Sunday 9:40 am service offers a contemporary, energetic worship experience. Responsive worship, led by our Praise Team and various dramatic and technical media, reinforces the messages of Jesus Christ through creative, expressive art forms. An outward, energetic tone prevails in this more casual atmosphere held in the Sanctuary. Bible verses are delivered through readers and illustrated through the Pastor's weekly message, which promotes an understanding of God's Word relevant to modern life. Prayer is an important part of the service.
9:30 am
(2nd Sunday of each month - except June & July)
"The Deep"
High energy worship for children and families
Every 2nd Sunday of the month, a unique worship experience is provided for our children and families. Filled with HIGH ENERGY music... singing... jumping... clapping, it provides an opportunity for praising God with drama, Bible stores and basic truths. In this worship, we seek to "bring the Bible to life" for our children and their families, teach them the promises inside its pages and help them experience God as they never have before!
11:00 am Sunday
Spirited Traditional Worship
A place where tradition meets today

The Sunday 11:00 am service is rich in tradition, yet embraces a spirited modern feel. This service offers a chance to worship in the Sanctuary with others who share a desire for a traditional worship experience. Traditional and new hymns, typically led by organ and our Sanctuary Choir are enhanced with progressive liturgy. A wide range of sacred music, drama and technical media present Biblical teachings through artistic expression. The Pastor's weekly message connects the enduring lessons of Jesus Christ to today's environment. The 11:00 service includes many opportunities for prayer.
12:30 pm Sunday
Centro Cristiano Hosanna
A Spanish/English bilingual experience

All are based on scripture and each service is bathed in prayer. An open invitation is extended to all who seek to receive the Lord's Supper. Communion is offered on a monthly basis at all of the services. The joy of Baptism is often a part of Matthews UMC worship services.
Identical messages are delivered on Sunday at 8:20, 9:40, and 11:00 services while "The Deep" and Centro Cristiano Hosanna services each feature a unique message.
